The Coming Down

I've never seen you fall apart
Always so calm and cool

You drift in and out unscathed
As I always play the fool

I've never seen you struggle with disappointment and pain

With this doubt I feel
About who I am

Thank God I forget
How much this hurts each time

It's easier to soar
When you can't see you're up high

But I feel the apprehension
About smiling again

I'm taking longer and longer
To get back up

Perhaps this is adulthood
Or my disease

Or it’s us timid few
That make you look so brave

I watch you soar
Higher than I've ever flown

Because you just don't fear
The coming down
