I was born intersex — and subjected to a horrifying surgery at seven to take out my uterus. The pain, the shame, and dysphoria I experienced before transitioning was overwhelming. Does me being involved in this issue mean I shouldn’t write about it or discuss it because I am biased? Am I biased? Sure; children are subjected to surgeries all the time that aren’t necessary. If people who were biased always kept their mouths shut, there wouldn’t be any Christians running around screaming at people who are trans. There wouldn’t be people shouting about global warming from the rooftops, and there wouldn’t be any Republicans screaming about traditional values. The tone you use in your article shows you are biased on this topic too, so why should we take you seriously, either?
