You might be interested in the work of Perception Institute ( They have done deep research on how to change people’s minds about biases. So much can be done (and undone) with word choices and styles of communication. You can shift someone’s point of view, or you can make them defensive, leading them to dig in and ultimately decide that all such conversations are insincere, with ulterior motives. That’s how we get into the current political situation. Too many people just get off on being angry and self-righteous and calling other people out — they don’t really care about the results. Your attitude is so much more constructive and likely to lead to real change.
