But that’s why we have such procurement practices in place too, because there are always going to be these kinds of connections. As a civil servant when I do procurements or have companies contact me it’s really clear when someone is trying to sell you something. I always think; “if you wanted to get business you would know how we procure and how it works and that I can’t give you preferential treatment so please don’t invite me to a bbq!”
It’s interesting being on the other side of that, if I was running a procurement and your company came up I would feel like I would have to stand aside and let my colleagues run it, though in reality with the scoring against evidence it should always be fair…
What am I saying? The procurement practices should go some way to protecting us on all sides (that might not always be the case but I believe it right now).
Also, I haven’t doubted your motives. I have always had the impression via weeknotes that you wanted to learn and help.
