This seems to me to be problematic. I have to admit to agreeing to Yonatan Zunger on this point re: using a different model. Zunger’s essay articulates in practical metaphors my own thinking on the topic, but I do wish to add that part of critical thinking means applying exclusionary principles when it is ethically appropriate. The original Damore essay seems very much like a justification for an underlying bias and lacks critical thought. Its impact is meaningful to others and society. Stopping this from occurring does not seem to me to be discrimination in the spirit of the term.
