Yeah, it’s one of those things that seems to make intuitive sense and seems pretty obvious, and the more you examine it and the more you learn, the more bizarre and confusing. Then, the more I try to structure it the more I start sounding like a Nazi. Like, “oh, which one sounds better, I mean, scientifically speaking, ‘one drop’ or a graded and stratified system?…” etc.

My background is Malaysian and the entire country is “race is a hot mess, basically” as a huge piece of performance art examining that very premise.
