The Victor Wembanyama era has arrived in San Antonio, and it’s off to a roaring start.

Wembanyama, the №1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, made his NBA debut on Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks, and he immediately showed why he’s the most hyped prospect in recent memory.

The 7-foot-4 Frenchman finished with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block in 23 minutes, and he even flashed his otherworldly skill with a Euro-step dunk from the free throw line.

Wembanyama was slowed by foul trouble in the first three quarters, but he came alive in the fourth, scoring 9 points and electrifying the crowd with his playmaking.

His debut was so impressive that it had even Luka Doncic marveling.

“He’s going to be amazing, he already is,” Doncic said. “The size obviously (stands out), like everybody talks. The way he moves for (7-foot-3), he moves incredible. He moves like a point guard almost. It’s pretty amazing to see.”

Wembanyama’s arrival has already had a major impact on San Antonio. The Spurs sold standing-room only tickets for the opener, and his jerseys and T-shirts dominate the stands.

He’s the clear darling of a city desperate for its sixth NBA title, and he’s shown all the signs of being the player who can lead them back to the top.

In other words, the Victor Wembanyama era is in full swing in San Antonio, and it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch.
