Holiday to comfort and safety

I love travelling. I actually only know one person who said, he hates travelling. A kid, who had to move so many times because of his father’s job, that he just wants some peace finally.

I love to see all the things I haven’t seen before, to taste all those flavors I haven’t taste, the music, the sights, museums… Couldn’t finish the list. Yet, this year’s first travel was different. A couple of days before leaving, I was sitting in front of my computer and realized: there was nothing to do at the city I was about to visit. The no 1. on Tripadvisor’s list was the local park. The rest is an industrial area. We had reservation for 7 days in a 4 stars hotel.

I am sitting in the hotel restaurant, having my breakfast. God I love breakfast. Especially if there is such a variety of food. During all my backpacking I forgot how good this feels. The hot shower. We do not have a hot shower at home, as at that part of the country the weather is always hot. But not here. Finally, a hot shower… I did not have it since I left Europe (8 months).

So, the first day? Asking around how to get to nearby place and going to the park. Going to the park. This, in the city I live would be problematic. Why? Because it is dangerous. It is dangerous to walk on the street, to get on a bus, to walk in a park. Yes, everywhere. So I went to a park here once, and I tried the bus once. I only sit in the car and get out of the car to enter a building. No walking around please! But they say, it is safe here. Safe.

We leave the hotel on foot and walk in the sunshine. I feel like crying I am so liberated. I can even speak English aloud! The camera is hanging on my shoulder, I do not have to leave my phone behind just in case in a safe place. You know what? Tomorrow I will go ALONE to the shop with my headphones on. You bet I will! Walking, on the street alone. The tears come again.

It was a wonderful holiday. Not doing much, not checking a long list of sights. No adventure. Finally, comfort instead. Comfort and safety.
