The Two Trumps

Apparently Republicans have nominated two candidates to run for President this year. “Real Trump”, whom family, close friends and supporters claim to know intimately off camera, is evidently kind, intelligent and passionate about our country. Conversely, is “Candidate Trump”, the incendiary, tweeting, reality TV star that defies logic and reason. “Real Trump”, thanks to some questionably inspired speeches from family at the RNC, might have some thinking that he would make a great representative, leading into a brighter future. “Candidate Trump” has the rest of us, especially Republicans, holding our breaths. Until now, however, he has only shown the latter, begging the question; does “Real Trump” actually exist? What certainly exists, is a Republican nightmare, continually attacking, insulting and denying everything ad nauseam. Multiple issues arise now: who is the actual Trump? Which Trump are Republicans trying to elect? Can he/Will he/Should he reconcile these two personalities? Honestly, the only real Trump we observe is Candidate Trump, as seen on TV as the screaming, paranoid, narcissist that will most likely send us into nuclear war within his first 100 days. Therefore, his supporters are choosing to elect an anti-American, racist, bigot, who’s only sacrifices for this nation were those for personal gain. As for reconciling his multiple personalities, he probably cannot, will, or should. The most troubling issue of all, is a willingness to place faith in the idea that this man is actually the messiah dressed in the devil’s clothes. I suggest to Trump supporters listen to your conscience come November, while I continue to hold on to the hope that logic and reason still exist in this country.
