Why Is the U.S. Air Force Dismantling Some of Its Stored A-10s?
War Is Boring

We have plenty of desert — why would we scrap any of them — even if they are just remaining frames? The insidious answer is that the USAF wants them gone. Kill the spare parts pile and the flying A-10s will soon follow. Then the F-35 with its laughable 4 secs of ammo minigun can bask in glory. While the old Hog is around, slaying enemies and making them crap their shorts as the “cross of death” rolls over on them, the F-35 is inadequate for CAS against a relatively unsophisticated foe like we have in much of the world.
