Magdeburg is an ancient German city in the east. Magdeburg is also known as the science, art, and culture capital of Germany. For many, he is best known as the birthplace of Otto Von Gerica, a brilliant German engineer, scientist, and philosopher. A vacuum air pump invented it in the seventeenth century, and it is employed in the present world at literally every step. And, in commemoration of his famous experiment with Magdeburg copper hemispheres, the outcome showed the presence of atmospheric pressure, eight horses on each side failed to break the hemispheres, proving atmospheric pressure.

The first church was founded on September 21, 937, in the Benedictine abbey of St. Maurice (Mauritiuskloster), in the area of the current cathedral, by Otto I, who, in order to demonstrate his political might, ordered its construction before his coronation as emperor on February 2, 962.

For the purpose of claiming succession as Emperor of the Roman Empire of Vest, and to add value to these churches, a large number of antich architectural elements, such as porfir columns, were added, some of which were later reconstructed for the current catedrală.
