“Iulia Hasdeu” Castle is an architectural whim in the shape of a castle in Câmpina Romania, built between 1894 and 1896.The museum was built to commemorate Iulia Hasdeu, the daughter of Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, who died at the age of 18 of tuberculosis. Iulia Hasdeu, a gifted child, has distinguished herself since the age of two, when she already spoke two foreign languages — French and German. At the age of five he wrote poetry, and at the age of 11 he graduated from the “Sfantu Sava” National College, but also from the conservatory (piano and singing).Iulia Hasdeu, a young woman considered brilliant, was also the first Romanian to graduate from the Sorbonne in Paris. The first sketch of the castle, drawn by Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu himself, can be found on a page of a spiritist manuscript dating from September 3, 1893.The First World War affected Iulia Hasdeu Castle, which needed repairs even before the death of its builder, the scientist Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu (1907). The task of carrying out the restoration works was taken over in 1924 by the Popular Athenaeum “B.P. Hasdeu” from Câmpina. World War II aggravated the state of construction until 1955, when its name was inscribed on the List of Historic Monuments, under the code PH-II-m-A-16395.The castle was restored between 1962–1964, and the Historical Monuments Commission decided to turn it into a museum. Thanks to the history teacher…
