One of the most stunning areas in the Prahova Valley is the Catacuzino Castle’s property from Buşteni. At the base of the palace, a garden has been elegantly landscaped in the manner of the parks in the major European cities. The three artesian wells are still visible today, and the rows of trees that line the lanes have stood as witnesses over the years. On the same-named street in the Zamora neighborhood of Busteni, the Cantacuzino Castle can be found. The structure is extremely valuable in terms of architecture, history, documentation, and art. At the request of Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, better known as “Nababul,” the construction of the castle, which was finished in 1911, was carried out in accordance with the designs created by the renowned neo-Romanian architect Grigore Cerchez.According to legend, Prince Cantacuzino was able to spread his name around the world by using gold coins to cover the top of the castle in Busteni. Nababul was the heir to a vast fortune that had been accumulated over many years by the scions of a powerful royal dynasty. The boyar could at any moment rival the monarch in terms of money, as well as in terms of power or social standing. He had the desire to leave the structures and monuments bearing his name to future generations since he loved art so much.
