3 Ways To Eat Healthy On The Go

Did you know that your health is your wealth? Without it, you can’t do much of anything, let alone be busy.

There so many things that you can do in order to take care of your health and well-being.

Unfortunately, research shows that 97 percent of American adults get a failing grade on healthy lifestyle habits. Nobody is ever too busy to take care of themselves. Healthy living is a choice.

In the words of Thomas Fuller, “Health is not valued until sickness comes.”

Life is messy, but don’t let your mind and body take the brunt of it. Make it a priority to put your needs on the top of your to-do list.

A lot of people have no idea how good their bodies are designed to feel. If you owned a Lamborghini would you put cheap fuel in it? I’m going to guess that you wouldn’t.

So… why is it still so hard to be healthy?

It’s not just a lack of motivation. Science shows us that unhealthy food is addictive. A study found that when rats were regularly fed fast food, their brain chemistry changed.

In particular, they became obese and lost the ability to determine when they were hungry. What’s worse, they actually refused to eat healthy food.

This is in no way an excuse for being unhealthy, but it does shed light on one of the reasons why so many people struggle with health.

Anything that you want to create in this lifetime will require that you master your health. Being healthy doesn’t have to be difficult. If you want to make the transition towards a more healthy lifestyle, you need to start by changing your mindset.

Your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

Which option would you rather choose?

The way that you think about health determines how healthy you are right now. What is your relationship with health?

I hear a lot of people say to me — “I don’t have time for anything.” I get it… health can sometimes feel like one more thing to do, but it’s the most important thing.

As Tony Robbins says, “If you don’t have 5 minutes, you don’t have a life.”

If you are an entrepreneur you understand what it means to get sick. You need a massive amount of energy to run a business. If you hit a wall, or worse, fall into burnout, it can cost you a lot of time and money.

In the words of Josh Billings, “Health is like money. We never have a true idea of its value until we lose it.”

This is why my health is my top priority.

Every morning, without fail, I spend time taking care of my mind, body, and spirit. It doesn’t matter where I am. My morning ritual gives me the boost of productivity and mindfulness that I need in order to be at my best.

Would you believe me if I told you that it is actually possible to be both the busiest and the healthiest person? Let’s explore three ways that you can eat healthy, no matter how busy you are.

1. Hydrate

Your body is comprised of 60% water. In order to function properly, it needs to sustain this level. If your mouth is dry or your urine is dark, there’s a good chance that you are dehydrated.

This is why keeping hydrated is integral to good health.

“Thousands have lived without love. Not one without water.” — W.H. Auden

When you first wake up in the morning, your body is dehydrated. This is why I always drink two glasses of water right away. Before you reach for a coffee, choose the healthier alternative.

No matter how busy you are, there is no excuse for not drinking water.

Keep in mind that it’s very important that you drink high-quality water because tap water is filled with chemicals. Since I invested in a water ionizer I’ve noticed a massive change in my overall energy levels.

2. Prepare Meals In Advance

If you lead a very busy life, it can be easy to fall into unhealthy eating habits. When you are rushing out the door in the morning, you are more likely to grab something quick and easy, like a pre-packaged muffin or a bagel, versus a healthy smoothie.

“Every time you eat or drink, you are either feeding disease or fighting it.” — Heather Morgan

One of the best things that you can do is prepare your meals in advance, preferably on the weekends.

If you are going to cook, double up your portions so that you save yourself time and have extra food for the week. There are so many healthy options in the grocery store. You could even buy pre-chopped veggies.

If you don’t have time to go to the store, you can order your groceries online and have them delivered. See… there is no reason why you can’t eat healthy on the go.

3. Don’t Skip Breakfast

Are you a breakfast skipper? If you lead a super busy life, chances are you might fall into this category.

Research shows that breakfast eaters are more likely to be healthier — they are less likely to be overweight/obese and have a lower risk of several chronic diseases.

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day.

The morning is when you need the most energy to get your day started. As Julia Zumpano says, “This is why it makes sense to eat more calories during the part of the day when you’re most active.”

Eating first thing in the morning boosts your metabolism and helps you maintain a healthy weight. If you skip breakfast, you may end up overeating later on in the day.

A healthy, nutritious breakfast is the only way to go. Give your body the fuel that it needs by eating foods like fresh fruit, oats, or eggs. Alternatively, you could drink a protein smoothie with chia seeds or flax in it.

Listen to your body and choose foods that work best for you.

No matter how busy your life is, you can always choose health.

If your health goes downhill, so will everything else in your life. When you take care of your mind and body, it takes care of you.
