3 Reasons Why Travel Is The Best Education
We have all been taught that the only way to get a proper education is by sitting in a classroom. While academics are important, learning is not only confined to this setting.
Learning can happen anywhere. Research shows that 70 to 80% of learning happens outside the classroom.
There are many ways that you can expand your mind. In my eyes, traveling is one of the best educational experiences you can have.
In the words of Saint Augustine, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”

The world is filled with an infinite number of places to see and explore. I believe that traveling can have a significant impact on your personal growth and development. It expands your cultural, intellectual and spiritual self to limits that you would never think were possible.
Traveling is a form of learning in and of itself. It forces you to step outside of your comfort zone and adapt to new environments that are unfamiliar to you.

I have been blessed to live a very luxurious lifestyle. However, a few months ago I decided to let all of that go and move to Panama. I sold most of my belongings and decided to adopt a laptop lifestyle.
This was a big life change for me, but one that I am very happy I made.
My girlfriend and I plan on spending the next few years living abroad and traveling to new places before we settle down. We have learned so much about ourselves and one another from exploring new places.
One of the many benefits of running an online business is that you get to travel the world and work from anywhere.
Here are 3 reasons why traveling is the best education.
1. Traveling Exposes You To Different Cultures
One of the reasons why I love to travel so much is that I get the opportunity to embrace new cultural practices and people. When I traveled to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat last year, I explored the richness of Arabian culture.
I encourage you to utilize all of your senses when you travel to a new place. A new culture, with its sights, smells, sounds, and colors, can be a thrilling experience.
It can broaden your perspective on the beliefs and values of others, helping you to understand new ways of life that are very different from your own. It may even inspire you to be more grateful, and to have compassion for those who are less fortunate than yourself.
“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”― Henry Miller
2. Traveling Increases Your Self-Confidence
Packing your bag, leaving the comfort of your home and venturing out into the unknown expands your self-knowledge.
Taking a risk, doing something new, and stepping into the unknown is the best confidence builder.
The mere unpredictability of it is both exciting and scary.
When we increase our self-confidence, our self-esteem is given a massive boost, which inspires us to explore more and follow our soul’s purpose in life.
In the words of Paulo Coelho, “Travel is never a matter of money but of courage.”
Traveling forced me to communicate with new people and speak publicly, two things that I used to shy away from entirely. Doing so gave me the confidence to know that I could do and be anything. There is no better gift that I could have received.
3. Traveling Makes You More Independent
The very act of traveling can present you with all sorts of challenges that you aren’t prepared for. Many things can happen along your travels that don’t go as planned— you miss a flight, get lost sightseeing or you can’t speak a language and need to navigate your way through a new place.
In these moments, it’s up to you to figure out a solution.
Traveling teaches you how to improvise and make decisions on your own. As a result, you do more than you could have ever imagined was possible.
More importantly, if you travel solo, you learn to enjoy alone time, which is a great way to know yourself better and have a greater understanding of your purpose in life.
At the end of the day, travel changes you for the better. Your perspective broadens and you start to realize that the world really is your oyster.
Education and travel are synonymous with one another.
“Traveling — it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” — Ibn Battuta
Step outside of your comfort zone, book a flight and adopt the mindset of an explorer. Approach every place that you see with an open mind. The world is a beautiful place. Go and explore it.
Where will your next destination be?
