Who said that AI needs to be Terminator-style scary or NASA-level complex? Well, I didn’t for sure! That’s why I used GPT-3, the most powerful text-generation model in the world, to create three funny stories, to show that Artificial Intelligence can be used to bring a smile on people’s faces.

If you prefer, you can check out the stories at this link, where they’re accompanied by a cool animation I created in WebGL following this awesome tutorial. Otherwise, keep reading to discover the adventures of a moose who’s always late at picnics, a penguin who doesn’t like the cold and a giraffe who doesn’t understand his platypus friend’s jokes.

The moose and the picnic

There once was a moose who was always late for picnics. His friends would invite him to their picnic basket packed with all the food and drinks they could fit, but the moose would show up hours later — usually when everyone was already full and ready to leave.

The moose didn’t mean to be late, it’s just that he loved picnics so much that he wanted to make sure he got there as close to the start as possible. Unfortunately, no matter how hard he tried, he always ended up being fashionably late.

One day, his friends had had enough. They decided to play a prank on him and hide all the food away before he arrived. When the moose finally showed up at the picnic spot, there was nothing left for him to eat or drink! His friends laughed and joked about how they’ll never invite him to another picnic again — but of course, they did eventually forgive him (after they filled back up their baskets). From then on, whenever there was a picnic planned, the moose made sure to set an alarm clock so he would be on time!

The penguin who was cold

One day a penguin was walking on the beach and he saw a bear. The bear said “Hi, Penguin! I’m going to go swimming in the cold water.” The penguin said “No way, Bear! I don’t like the cold!” The bear smiled and said “Don’t worry, Penguin. I’ll be back soon.”

The next day, the bear came back and he was all wet. He said “See, Penguin? It’s not so bad!” The penguin still didn’t want to go in, so the Bear asked a wise owl what to do. The owl said “You should try something new every day.” So the next day, when the Bear came back, he brought a fish for the Penguin to eat. Finally, the Penguin tried swimming and he loved it!

The moral of the story is that you should never be afraid to try new things.

The giraffe and the platypus

A long time ago, there was a giraffe who was friends with a platypus. The platypus was always telling the giraffe jokes, and the giraffe would laugh so hard that his belly would shake. One day, the Platypus said to the Giraffe, “Why don’t you ever tell me any jokes?” The Giraffe thought for a moment and then said, “I don’t know any.” The Platypus was surprised and said, “But I’ve heard you laughing at my jokes for years!” The Giraffe explained that he had never actually understood what the Platypus was saying, but he laughed because he knew that it made his friend happy.

The Platypus was so touched by the Giraffe’s admission that he hugged him and said, “From now on, I’ll make sure to explain my jokes to you so you can understand them.” The Giraffe was happy to finally be able to understand his friend’s jokes, and they laughed together for many years after that.
