Rebuilding the Interior — An Illustrator assignment

Mini-Blog #2

After learning the basics of photography, designing comes next. I started taking several photos of interior spaces, having the assignment in mind. We had to redraw a portion of the photo in Illustrator and make it part vector and part photograph. Some of the shots I took can be seen below:

Then I decided that I wanted to also have something really personal and alive in the image, which led me to capture several shots with my friend’s dog in them. Eventually, I chose this one:

I imported it on Illustrator and started drawing over the table with the drawers. I used the pen tool to draw the shapes and lines and then I filled them with colour using mainly shades of brown, gold and grey and also a gradient tone for the handles. And here is the outcome:
