I think Airbnb is the best example of this. As the idea we know today, it ticks all the boxes. As the way it started, it didn’t. The thing about US tech scene is that seemingly bad ideas are allowed a try, which often leads to great ideas. The opposite however is not equally true. Most bad ideas stay bad.
