Which players to buy?

Players that have a high potential to rise in value usually fall in at least one of these categories:

  • current average score is below long time average score
  • market offer lies below average trading value
  • DNP (did not play) due to injury/suspension
  • NG (no game) due to offseason or break
  • player plays in non prominent league
  • player has a non prominent age (30+)

I am going to elaborate on these factors in more detail.

Current average score is below long time average score

Maximize Your Profits on the Sorare Transfer Market: Use Average Scores to Your Advantage! Since higher average scores promise higher odds to gain rewards players with high average scores are valued higher on the transfer market.

But don’t get fooled by average scores! If a player only participated in one of the last five games his average score will only be made up by this score. Therefore every additional score will influence the average score heavily.

Players that recently score below their average score can be found by comparing their “last 5 game” score with the “last 40 game” score. If the “last 5 game” score lies below the “last 40 game” score the player recently underperforms.

Make use of the fact that the score for the next game will replace the score form the fifth last game. So if a player of interest scored low in his fifth last game chances are good that the new score for the next game will increase the average score and therefore increase the value on the transfer market. If you want to make profits in the short term this is a proven method.

Market offer lies below average trading value

https://www.soraredata.com is the place to go to find valuable market insights. When looking for flipping potential the two main indicators ar floor price and average trading price (3 or 7 days average). Comparing these two values for a player lets you quantify the margin that may be achieved. You should be mainly interested in players where the floor price (current lowest manager sale offer) is lower than the average trading price. The higher the difference the more margin can be expected. So keep your eyes open for direct offers below average trading price.

Usually you have to be very quick in these situations because someone else (Bot alert!) will probably spot this potential, too. But avoid costly mistakes: Back up your buying decision with a quick research to make sure the player didn’t suffer from a heavy injury which probably drops the value even further and makes this player unattractive for potential buyers in the next weeks/months.

DNP due to injury/suspension

DNP (did not play) is the placeholder for the average score for players that did not participate in any of the previous game weeks of its team. This labels a player as unpopular for most of the potential buyers and makes it very cheap to buy. A DNP-player falls in at least one of these categories:

  • chronical reserve player with low chances to get any minutes (e.g. third goalkeeper)
  • injured player
  • suspended player

We are interested in the last two categories since there is potential for changing ‘DNP’ into a high average score and therefor raising the market value substantially.

To find these players on Soraredata the ‘last 5 games’ filter for ‘games played’ and ‘games started’ has to be set to 0 while the ‘last 40 games’ filter average score has to be set to a range starting at a minimum of 30+.

Your patience and ability to afford holding a player card for a longer period should set your tolerance for the severity of the injury/suspension. Chose your targets accordingly.

NG (no game) due to offseason or break

If a player’s team does not play in the current game week it is labeled as NG (no game). Since the majority of players scouts the transfer market for players helping them in the current game week the competition for NG-players will be significantly lower. This is even more prominent if the next game week for the specific player is not going to start within the next weeks due to offseason. The longer the time period the card can not perform in competitions the less attractive it is for buyers resulting in a low market price. If you are willing to buy these card in these circumstances your patience will be rewarded with high profits.

Player plays in non prominent league

Most attention and knowledge on/about the transfer market is dedicated to the most prominent leagues like the Premier League or La Liga. Less prominent leagues do not get the attention they deserve, since there is equally or even more potential for flipping profits in these leagues. Focus on these niche leagues to avoid competition and accumulate niche knowledge that will pay off. Imagine you spot a player from a non prominent league that will be transferred to a prominent league which will boost its attention and market price enormously.

Player has a non prominent age (30+)

My personal experience shows that the younger the player is the more overhyped he is treated on the transfer market. In reverse the attention on older players (30+ years) is significantly lower. Contrary to the short term approach of many managers in respect to building competetive teams for the next game week they seem to think in long terms when regarding the potential of young players. This can be used in advantage by filtering for undervalued older players where the competition is low and therefore prices also.

Conclusion

There are many factors that give you the opportunity to buy cheaply. Use them to your advantage!
