John mayer at Hotel Utah

Don’t for a minute change the place you’re in

My lucky Thursday with John Mayer

I don’t have a lot of dreams. I have goals and aspirations but don’t like to spend too much time fantasizing about things that seem unrealistic to me. Last night, one of my dreams came true. I went to a secret show at Hotel Utah in San Francisco and saw John Mayer perform, I also had the chance to briefly meet him and shake his hand.I was among 30 other people some of which had no idea he’d be making an apperance. Seeing your favorite artist with 20,000 less people than usual is mind boggling, to say the least. There he was ‘6 feet small,’ as he sings, less than ten feet away from me.John Mayer has perfectly expressed so many sentiments and emotions I’ve had but never been able to put into words, let alone to to a tune. Since my adolescence he’s made me feel less crazy for being extremely sensitive while always trying to play it cool. Great music to me is about making people feel less alone in the world, last night John and the 30 attendees were kindred spirits. It was an event of ineffable beauty. To experience something like this in my favorite city, two days before moving out is pure luck. One of my favorite lyrics by him, “I believe that my life’s gonna see, the love I give, return to me” and I last night I believe it did.
