Virtual currency exchange Binance announced the launch of a platform to accelerate knowledge about blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.

Dominant cryptocurrency exchange Binance said it would launch an educational initiative to foster a more extensive public understanding of blockchain technology. The proposed blockchain academy is aimed at the next generation of blockchain enthusiasts, the company said in a statement.

The platform aims to address the fragmented and sometimes confusing knowledge about blockchain and digital currencies that are mostly sourced from the Internet. The initiative will serve as a globally accessible one-stop shop venue that will provide appropriate education articles and videos about the new technology. It will cover a wide range of advanced and fundamental topics that discusses everything from blockchain and its applications to virtual currencies as well as security best practices.

“Binance Academy’s mission is to proliferate knowledge about the power of blockchain and cryptocurrencies,” said Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance. “By offering comprehensive and easily accessible educational content to onboard the world, one video view and one article read at a time.”

Zhao said the initiative is Binance’s latest contribution to the blockchain ecosystem as it aims to transform itself into a global hub for all things related to digital currencies.

He added, “We have taken great care in adopting a platform that is open for both consumers and producers of contents. Users are free to suggest new topics they would like to learn about and also submit their work for review and sharing alongside Binance produced contents on Academy.”

A similar blockchain school was launched recently in the Philippines.

The 159-year-old Ateneo de Ateneo de Manila University and MediXServe recently joined forces to establish the Ateneo MediXserve Blockchain Education and Research (AMBER) Laboratory to educate the public on blockchain and teach them how to apply the technology to improve their lives.

The laboratory is envisioned to provide support for introducing blockchain in developing countries, as well as a think tank, an incubation center and a research hub for blockchain-enabled startups.
