What You Should Know About Low and High Pressure Washing

Pressure washing is the use of pressurized water and cleaning solutions to remove unwanted materials from a surface area. It is a great method to use for cleaning the exterior of your home and surrounding areas. Your home is likely the largest investment you will ever make, and keeping it looking like new requires periodic maintenance and cleaning. Pressure washing can help you maintain the beauty of your home because it removes mold, mildew, pollen, dust, spider webs, and dirt. There are two types of pressure washing: low-pressure, aka soft wash, and high-pressure.
Low-Pressure Wash

Low-pressure washing refers to the method of washing that uses a low-pressure nozzle on the end of pressure washing hose. Instead of relying on high-pressure to clean the targeted area, a cleaning solution designed to remove dirt, mildew, ect. is applied. The solutions we use consist of citrus based cleaners and a surfactants (soap) that are environmentally friendly. After the solution has been applied and given time to clean, they are then gently rinsed off leaving the area clean. The pressure output in pounds per square inch (PSI) is rated below 1000 PSI when performing a low-pressure wash. This option works best when cleaning your homes siding, decks, and fences.
High-Pressure Wash
Another type of pressure washing uses high pressure to clean surfaces around your home. The pressure output for this type of cleaning consists of pressure at, or above, 1000 psi, and is best used to clean concrete, brick, stone, and some wood surfaces. A cleaning solution is applied to loosen dirt, mold, and mildew prior to applying pressure and then high-pressure is used to remove this debris from the surfaces you are cleaning.
When the exterior of your home is not cleaned properly, it can cause several issues. Mold and mildew grow, creating problems with allergies and unsightly black and green splotches on your home. They also work to degrade the material these surfaces are made of and can cause them to chip, split, and fall apart. Furthermore, the curb appeal of your home is decreased when you have stained and moldy exterior surfaces. Pressure washing is an affordable way to increase your home’s value to buyers and realtors.
