I disagree with this. It may be good to hire fronted engineers like that. If you work in huge company on some backend API you can’t show anything except small button on client. You can’t share company owned code.
A lot of brilliant engineers work like that. Instead of doing open source after work and spending their time on Stackoverflow or Github they spend time with family or playing football, hiking etc.
