I like your post but I’d like to make an amendment regarding the Gatling Gun.

The Gatling Gun was invented in 1861 and used in other conflicts before (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gatling_gun) — mostly colonial conflicts. During World War I European powers had developed their own machine guns but no Gatling Guns. However it is true that machine guns saw little use in major conflicts so its full potential was not well understood.
