The Future Me — Message from 2027

Please note that I didn’t write this. I got this in my mail box from Danny from

Got me thinking. I am posting it here for you guys.

I want to get back to this message when i feel that i need direction.

What if you could write this same letter to yourself?

Hi Stephane Augustin,

I’m you, writing from the year 2027.

We’ve found a way to send a message back in time through the internet. And I have some important things to tell you.

It’s a message about the future that you’re moving towards, right now. Today.

You see, I know that there are some things weighing on your mind right now. Some things going on in your life that make you worry.

Some of them are really short-term worries; it’s a busy week, there’s too much work that you need to do, and there’s a tricky personal relationship that you know you have to get around to dealing with.

And some of them are bigger worries. These are the things that really keep you up at night, like whether you’ll ever make those dreams of freedom and impact a reality, and whether your future will be secure.

Well, Stephane Augustin, I’m writing to tell you that you don’t need to worry.

Your future is safe, and beautiful, and bright.

So many of the problems that we worried about back in your day have been solved by ideas and innovations that just weren’t on our radars yet. It’s a happy, safe, and secure world that you can look forward to enjoying.

But it didn’t just happen all by itself, Stephane Augustin.

It’s you, and people like you, who made that shift happen.

And that’s the other reason I’m sending you this message today. I know that part of what you’re scared of is that your big mission and vision may never see the light of day. That you’ll never get it out there, and if you do, nobody will care.

But I know how this is going to go, and I can tell you for a fact that you don’t need to worry.

Your message matters, and people will care.

The impact that you will make is beyond what you’re even dreaming right now.

So relax, and take heart. Don’t worry about the big picture, or about your impact and significance; I’ve seen the future, and lived it, and I can tell you that it’s going to happen.

All you need to do is be present in this moment.

Care for those around you, and make them feel valued and loved.

And seize the small risks and big opportunities being offered by those who are fighting the same good fight that you are.

Accept their help, and work together to build the future in which you become me.

And most of all, remember to pause every so often to breathe, and smile.

You don’t need to worry about the future.

It’s bright, and beautiful, and just waiting for you to create it.

I hope you’ll heed this message, and look forward to the day when you become me.

Meanwhile, seize opportunities…

…and enjoy the beauty of 2017,

Stephane Augustin in 2027
