News Writing Project 2

I am writing about how incoming freshman will be parking their cars at a satellite parking location off campus. Liberty University students will care because parking has been a big issue this year and this will help to reduce the traffic and scarcity of a good parking spot.

It is a good topic for an online format because students will be able to click on links that can take them to other sites backing up this information and making it credible.

Students at Liberty University have a beautiful campus with a friendly and welcoming student life, but the down downfall of the campus is parking. With around 14,000 students on campus and no restrictions on who can bring a car, good parking spaces are becoming more and more rare. Student government has passed the idea that satellite parking could be a possible way to handle the parking situation next semester. With incoming freshman, moving their cars to satellite lots would open over 1,000 current spots on campus.

Two interview subjects:

Emma Brooking, Freshman — “I think it’s a good idea and a fair idea because a lot of college freshmen don’t even get to have their car so I think it’s a compromise. Freshmen get to have their cars and upperclassmen get to have better parking spots.”

Amanda Johnson, Sophomore — “Since most other universities don’t even allow freshman to have cars, I think this compromise is a good solution. It still gives them the option to have a car while helping relieve some of the congestion on main campus.”

Currently, parking spots on campus are rarely empty.
Every spot is constantly full, making it difficult to park nearby.
