Environmental Portrait

This week for photojournalism, we sought to photograph environmental portraits of people. People in their space doing what they do best. The catch of the assignment was to have each individual photographed look into the camera.

I chose to photograph two people I already knew in their element.

The first person I chose to photograph is Gray Newlin. Gray is a Bellingham musician involved in three projects: petriXcore, Hex Appeal and Agenre.

The next person I chose to photograph was my coworker, Emily Barrett. Emily is an art student, graduating in the spring and putting final touches on a self portrait.

I chose the above photo as my official submission for the assignment because I wanted to do a take of the subject looking at the camera.
