What is UGC:
With the rise of social media platforms, we have seen an increase in users connecting and communicating together worldwide. Today, companies have taken the opportunity to expand their audiences by joining social media platforms to build and maintain more relationships. Companies using user-generated content(UGC) have also increased to help with engagement and reach. It allows for followers to share uniquely and organically. Because of this, others will gain more profound knowledge of the company and help along the buyer’s journey.

Examples:
For example, if the company is a hotel and publishes a five-star review written by a guest, it will help create brand awareness and loyalty. Others interested in a potential stay will feel more inclined to reserve a room if they hear from a recent guest’s experience or their un-edited photos of the rooms, lobby, restaurants and more. Re-sharing content and curating UGC is now an essential feature that companies and even Facebook Groups should promote their brand.

UGC for “Good Budget Eats”:
The main objectives of my Facebook Group revolve around UGC to see what my members are cooking, purchasing and eating. My Facebook Page, “Good Budget Eats,” shares affordable and straightforward recipes that guide healthy living and living your best life possible. Here, the Group encourages members to publish all recipes, inspirations, what it is like to realize how expensive eating out and grocery shopping are and promotions at certain grocery stores or restaurants the members enjoy. Two-way communication is now formed.

Techniques used in “Good Budget Eats”:
Currently, I have a series “What is everyone cooking this week?”. This is a way for users to share their everyday meals and food inspirations to help encourage nutritional meals. In the comment section, members post food and spark more conversation. Comments can also include sharing recipes and meal prep ideas. To increase more responses, I would tag members and ask them personally to post their weekly meals. This is a memorable and meaningful way to use UGC to promote the Group and create connections. To invite more members, I plan on having members share posts on their personal pages to have others join in on the fun. Hopefully, this will start others to prioritize food and nutrition with these recipes, shopping lists, and grocery store deals.

In addition, I have a series: “Eats and Deets.” For this segment, I post recipes that are simple, delicious and affordable. The “Eats” is the name of the dish and the “Deets” are the ingredients. This is a quick way to engage with members and achieve the Facebook Group’s goal of bringing cooking to life through the lens of young adults. I encourage members to publish their own “Eats and Deets” on a separate thread to incorporate UGC. I would invite members to post on my original photo.

UGC will help promote Good Budget Eats in an innovative, unique way. Through my two techniques, it will help create mutually beneficial relationships.
