The Pentagon Can’t Rely on This Turkish Air Base
War Is Boring

From California and/or Guam to Iraq was not “the longest bombing mission in history.” That doubtful honor goes to the Black Buck mission flown by the RAF to bomb a runway on the Falkland Islands in — as I remember — 1983. It was a little over 8,000 miles, while the longest of the B-52 missions was 7,000+. Granted it took I think 13 tankers and backup bombers to get the sole Vulcan to the Falklands, and it landed only one bomb that hit the runway, but a bunch of guys had sores asses afterward.
