Thief served with beer and forced to drink Gutter in Takoradi
Takoradi residents appear to have devised a simple but effective method of dealing with thieves once they have been apprehended.
They have completely abandoned the practice of lynching thieves.
This is why, after the stolen items were recovered, a thief was made to laugh heartily and asked to dance and sing to delight the residents.
Well, a thief who was caught again, this time a notorious one, was served beer and forced to distil the entire town’s gutter.
Wow! That’s a nice way to enlist people’s help in cleaning up the environment… It was a kind of “Work and Happiness” with some beer on hand.
The mid-adult was apprehended after residents monitored his movements and caught him with a bunch of plantain and some car parts after frolicking the area for days, according to Adomonline.com.
Residents tied a rope around his waist and paraded him around the neighborhood after he failed to identify the owner of the items.
While being supervised by a volunteer sanitation group, he was forced to distil the clogged and stinky gutters.
Some residents shaved a cross sign in his hair after the communal labor as a symbol of repentance from thievery.
The Takoradi residents gave him the final, but enjoyable punishment, despite his exhaustion and sweat. He was given a chilled beer and told to show off his dance moves.
Later, he was marched to the police station…
