BIAN’s BLOG

Learned from The Productivity Project book, I made an experiment and recorded how I spent the entire day today, minute to minute.

Here is the complete rundown list:

8:00–8:15 Idle

8:15–8:30 write journal — future residence ideas

8:30–9:00 work (fill out reimbursement form)

9:00–9:30 breakfast

9:30–10:00 work (continue with reimbursement form)

10:00–10:30 prepare letter to China / vacuum floor

10:30–10:40 idle

10:40–12:45 work (fill out FAFSA forms)

12:45–1:00 lunch

1:00–2:30 idle/check out Business Insider on cell phone) / nap

2:30–3:45 work (Serena tax form, FAFSA submision)

3:45–4:00 idle

4:00–4:20 work (conference call)

4:20–5:20 mail Serena tax form and China mail / check out Costco ($0 spent)

5:20–5:45 cook dinner

5:45–7:35 yoga

7:35–9:00 work (Penn Aid supplemental forms)

9:00–9:15 idle / publish Serena’s recommendation on Blog

9:15–10:15 write this blog / publish

10:15–11:00 work (company emails)

11:00–11:30 bed reading

What I learned:

1.I am surprised how much MORE PRODUCTIVE when I keep a log how I spent the time.

2.I should NOT start the day by browsing interesting but not-mission-critical internet articles.

3.I spent WAY TOO MUCH time in the noon to read interesting but not-mission-critical stuff on my cell phone. I WASTED 1 hour. I should have used the time to take a meaningful nap but instead, I only took 15 minute nap.

What I recommend:

Be conscious about how you spend your time. There are only 24 hours in a day.

Those high-achievers choose to best use every minute of their life to work on their goal and their dreams.
