High flying birds over the canal — Part 1

--

“I’m watching my TV, or is it watching me?”

“A Kind of Magic” moored in central Wheaton Aston, 16th August 2023 (Author’s Collection)

When not listening to a grisly true crime podcast on my travels I’ll pick a specific album to listen to and today was “Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds” and his first solo album after the split from the phenomenal Manchester band of the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, Oasis.

Star Date: 16th August 2023

Destination: Wheaton Aston

Favourite album song: “The Death of You and Me”

Central Wheaton Aston and Bridge Number 19 of the Shropshire Union Canal otherwise known as simply “Tavern Bridge” with a view south toward Bewdley in 3 or so miles and ultimately the end/beginning of this stretch of canal at Autherley Junction in a further 3/4 miles.
Red Diesel anyone? View from “Tavern Bridge” heading north and via some of the most eye catching stretches of the Shropshire Union Canal all the way to the merger with the Manchester Ship Canal.
Quintessential England on a Summer’s morning along the canal.
In case you were feeling lost! All three points on this particular compass of the Shropshire Union Canal are covered in some depth within my “UK Travel” library here.
View heading north from Bridge Number 20 of the Shropshire Union Canal or simply “Dirty Lane Bridge” and here, a lengthy working boat is about to pass by carrying, presumably, diesel and other necessities for canal life.
View heading south again from “Dirty Lane Bridge” and the elongated working boat passing on through.
“Pegasus” bringing some early morning colour to the Shropshire Union Canal — Part 1.
“Pegasus” bringing some early morning colour to the Shropshire Union Canal — Part 2.
A reflections filled view north once more, this time from Bridge Number 18 of the Shropshire Union Canal otherwise known more simply as “Wheaton Aston Bridge”.
Say hello to “Tranquillity”.
“Tranquillity” once more and this time, a pleasure boater approaching the one and only “lock” along this small stretch of the canal.
“Permission Welcome” below “The Hartley Arms” public house.
