Walk in Out Patient Clinics

Beware

I’m writing this rant in response to a tweet from @garyvee. My first time on Medium.

I can tell you that I grew up having a family doctor. Didn’t you? I don’t have one now. Do you? I never thought it was important until a week ago. I got sick with the flu. And I felt like total shit. I didn’t have a family doctor to call.

Anyway, I knew what was wrong with me. I had the flu. All I wanted was to call my family doc and get him to prescribe me with a Z Pack and get this thing over with. Nope. I had to go to a Walk In Outpatient Clinic. They must see over 100 people a day. Easy.

Place was cold, dirty. For the most part the employees were too. If I hadn’t gone at 7 am the wait probably would have been out the door.

I actually got to see a real MD. Shocker. That was after I was checked out by a paramedic. What the fuck? A paramedic? Whatever. The MD was pretty good for the most part. A little shitty and cheesy but okay. He actually did a full check up to make sure I didn’t have anything beside the flu.

After the rapid response test for the Flu came back negative he said “Well, with these rapid response tests these days we see a lot of false negatives. These tests are great for quick results but they aren’t the most reliable.” He then prescribed me to Tamiflu because of my “flu-like symptoms.”

I think the doctor made the right call but my point is… How many times is this the wrong call with these “bull shit fake doctors’ offices”? It’s happening every day.

I guess this is societies way of dealing with the overpopulation issue. How else are you going to make sure everyone in America is able to see a “doctor” when needed on a timely basis?

I know each walk in clinic is different…but I’m judging from the only one I’ve ever been to.

Peace and hair grease.
