Weekend Pitches

Working for the weekend

I know a lot of people talk about work life balance, and how you need to take time for yourself, which I don’t disagree with, but this post is not about that.

I find myself really productive on the weekends. The pace of inbound emails and phone calls slows and I can focus.

I also realized I’m having to schedule calls with founders 2–3 weeks out at times, but when I’m sitting at my desk doing some basic work on a Saturday, I could also take a few 15–30 minute calls with founders.

So I’ve started opening up a 2 hour window on Saturdays and some Sundays, on a first come, first serve basis to allow founders to get on the calendar for a call. There’s no admin to go through, it’s just an open calendly link that allows anyone, to book time for a call.

Only the truly dedicated are willing to get on the phone at 2 PM on a Saturday and chat. However, I know I will get some unprepared folks whose calls aren’t going to be a great use of either of our time, and I’m ok with that, to some degree. To that end, I’ve made it somewhat hard to find the link to my calendar for scheduling these times. It’s not impossible, but it isn’t broadcast on my website. If you are resourceful enough to track the link down, and schedule a time during your day off, then I’m all about chatting with you while I am in the office anyway, on a Saturday or Sunday.
