We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” T. S. Eliot

“If then…” S H Elliott

Increasingly concerned with how to maintain what we can — and create what we must — for a more civil society in the face of relentless change (much of we have not really chosen) and increasingly uncomfortable, divisive rhetoric.

A former VC and international banker living again near a well-known Eastern university and its b-school. Twin Cities-born and raised by Texas-born parents and grandparents with pioneering ancestors. University-educated in science and then business at what then seemed the best places on both coasts (Caltech & Harvard), and later Cornell for Japanese. Studied, taught and became a banker in Germany. Later worked in the Far East for over a decade plus London. Foreign-born wife, three sons, and several grandchildren.

All of which may (or may not) explain something about my both adventurous and conservative, reverent and irreverent, simultaneously confident but tentative, demanding attitudes. I have a voracious desire to learn and improve my understanding and effectiveness, but little respect for ill-founded opinions and dogmas.
