You’re in for a tectonic shift of epic proportions when you can start asking a different question.

Here is the question you’re asking now: “What’s wrong with this?” No matter what the situation is, you are looking for the wrong. You’re looking for why something won’t work. Why are you doing that? You think that you’re doing it to spot the errors and the flaws in the machine, but then you don’t go and fix those flaws in the machine. You just allow them to be as they are, unchecked, and pushing you further and further down a path of…

If you’ve ever seen The Martian, with Matt Damon and a bunch of other amazing actors and actresses, you might remember the scene where they decide that they’re going to fast track a rocket full of food up to Matt Damon on Mars. The mission goes awry.

Some backstory: Matt Damon gets left behind on a Mars mission and has to survive on the planet alone until he can get rescued. He does not have much food, I won’t spoil what happens here but fans know what I’m talking about, and he’s got hardly any options because it’s Mars and…

It’s not enough to keep gathering all of the knowledge in the world.

You can’t just keep gathering tool after tool, but never putting them to use. Imagine having a shed that’s just chock full of great tools, all brand new tools, or at least some that were brand new very recently. They’ve maybe been picked up for a quick project or two here and there, you used them right off the bat with vigor and intensity, but then you put them away on the shelf because they were hard to use and you weren’t committed to mastering how to use them. This shed is packed to the gills.

You’ve got a sander: a power sander just sitting there in the shed.

You got it for…

Thoreau has a quote that says the true cost of a thing is how much life you trade for it, not necessarily how much money you trade for it.

When thinking about your own life, and the things that you possess, assess how much life you are trading for something that you own. This includes things that do not seem to take up any space as well, like digital products or social media accounts. How much of your life are you trading to manage these different things, and what is the benefit that you derive from that price paid?

We…

It’s even simpler than it sounds.

You know what you are doing when you’re being an idiot. Maybe you’re being a jerk to somebody around you for no reason. You’re being rude to somebody who innocently asked a harmless question just because you don’t like the implication that you think is behind it. You blame the dog for crapping on the floor when they don’t know any better or because they’re scared or excited or you just haven’t trained them to do anything different. …

Get up and do the same 5 things every single morning.

I don’t care what those 5 things are, but I know that you’ll get them done every single day if you make that part of your routine.

How easy is it to put things off, to think that you might get to something later on in the day when you’re not as tired, or have a little more time? Very easy. How often does that actually happen? Hardly ever.

You very rarely have less things to do by the end of the day; you usually have more. You’ve taken…

“We are what we repeatedly do,” said Will Durant, paraphrasing Aristotle. “Therefore excellence is not an act, but a habit.”

This is a shining beacon of hope in world telling us constantly that if you are not born with the excellence gene, then you have no business pursuing excellence because it just isn’t in the cards for you. The world tells us that if we aren’t good at something already, just to give up on it because we’re never going to be good at it. …

The perfect day exists.

Surely, you know this. You’ve experienced it plenty of times, but you may have never looked to see exactly why it was such a perfect day. Sure, you might have gone to the amusement park when you were a kid, or spent all Saturday on the beach with friends, but you can’t realistically do that everyday. You have to go work. You have to cook dinner. You have responsibilities that can’t be avoided.

I’m here to tell you that a good day can be achieved every day.

So how do we do it? You might think…

How does one go about producing something great?

How do you get out of the ordinary into the world of the magical, the fantastic, the supernatural?

The gateway to the muse is within all of us, but we have forgotten how to access it. Most of us have forgotten, at least. But some remain who still know the way, whether they’re consciously aware of it or not.

The muse is like the flow state. For each one of us, this flow state is different, but we know when we’re in it just as we know when we’re not.

For me…

What are you so afraid of?

What is it that you think is going to happen if you go off the deep end and follow the sirens that pull on your heart strings? What do you talk about that makes your heart move and your soul sing?

What is it that keeps you stuck in rut, complaining to anybody who asks about you, rather than stepping up and stepping out and being on your own? Why aren’t you proving that your heart will carry you further than you’ve ever been?

What do you need? A college degree that says that…
