Chris, I think we have a little in common. Thought perhaps not.

I am an atheist Jew, now 74 years old, raised in Los Angeles, after my parents fled Chicago (their parents were insane, as am I. I was sent to synagogue in Los Angeles when I was 10. I had already read the entire Judeo-Christian Bible and decided it was a fairy tale. If there is any truth (very dubious) to the story of Abraham about to kill his child until he was about to kill his child

Abraham and Sarai are promised a son in their old age by the Lord. … When God commands Abraham to offer Isaac as a sacrifice to Him, Abraham must make the most difficult decision of his life. This story is one of the greatest tests of obedience, faith and trust in God found anywhere in the Bible.Mar 8, 2012

In 2018, when people are about to kill their child and then stop at the last minute because they hear voices, such people are taken away to the insane asylum.

One of my brothers, Joel Kahn, is a schizophrenic, and hears voices. Fortunately, Joel knows he is crazy, his wife takes care of him, and the police in Springfield, MO, USA are familiar with him and when they find him wandering the streets and talking to himself they ask

Off your medications again, Joel?

And the cops then take him home and turn him over to his wife who takes care of him.

On the other hand, one of my sisters, Paula, who lives in Orange County, CA USA, found Jesus when she was 12 years old and is convinced that Jesus prays to her for advice on running the universe. Last I heard, Paula is now homeless because the Christian church that was sheltering her could not stand her narcissism any more and threw her out. My other brother, who is not insane, and has a little more money than I do, sent Paula some money.

Paula replied

I am going to enroll in divinity school and start my own church.

Assuming she does that (not very likely), Paula will preach to an empty church and imagine the [empty] pews are filled with cheering Jews for Jesus kissing rattlesnakes.

To let you know how crazy I am:

  1. I have been faithfully married for 53 years to a woman born in Santa Monica (a very hot place) who now takes care of me
  2. As a child in synagogue (already an atheist) I met Holocaust survivors with Nazi tattoos
  3. I was told that the founding of Israel was a great triumph for the Jews.
  4. I think the founding of Israel was a great (if inevitable error)
  5. If the Mossad are such great warriors
  6. They can do the USA a great service by kidnapping Donald Trump AND Mike Pence and putting them on trial in Jesulem
  7. for being reincarnations of Hitler and Stalin
