Thanks, Phil, for a sensible post about statue yanking.
Once there was no race. There were only nearly naked apes, living in Africa, about 250,000 years ago, barely surviving, because lions and leopards did not live in zoos for our entertainment but hunted us for their survival.
Each of our ancestors realized
I will die.
All animals (you realize you are an animal, correct?) strive to pass on genes
No gene passing no next generations now 250,000 years later (you realize there is no literal garden of eden)
You can take the Homo Sapiens out of the Paleolithic, but can you take our 21st Century brain out of the Paleolithic brain?
Our brain evolved to survive. By quick decisions against constant threats. Not only from lions and leopards and hippopotamuses and elephants,
but from each other.

There was probably only one shade of skin color. Hard for creatures who live around a 100 years at most to think about tens of thousands of years of evolution.
Humans have a long history with enslaving each other, Skin color was an accidental reason to rationalize it. We have to keep learning lessons over and over again. Sometimes we build statues. Sometimes we tear down statues.
I confess, I am old and white and Jewish and atheist and crazy.
Please support my proposal for 24 hours of Homo sapiens silence. Everywhere on our planet. Start with one second of silence on Jan 1, 2018 and grow it by exponential meme infection to 24 hours of silence on December 31, 2018.
If we shut up, for a bit, we can start listening to each other. I need encouragement. I am 73 and I may die before the crescendo of silence on the last day of the next year. I read my spam. I do not spam. I lie because what human never lies.
Encourage me. stephenkahn@yahoo.com.
