Really good stuff.

I’ve screwed up in my responses before, and what I have learned is this: (1) I screwed up, not the speaker, and (2) I own correcting my mistakes, every one of them. No one else owns fixing my actions or words.

When I am tempted to say “but what I meant was…” I know that I am not acknowledging what I did.

It is very hard (for me, at least), to listen and take in what is being said when I’m corrected. But it’s a necessary thing.
