In almost every conversation, the conversation eventually leads to who works for what company. So many people want to work for Facebook(now known as Meta), Google, Amazon, Apple and Netflix these days that it is no wonder why the acronym, FAANG, exists in the first place. You see people writing about it on social media all of the time — “I got an interview with Google!” or “I don’t care what job I get at FAANG as long as I get in.” But why do they want to work there? And why can’t everyone work at FAANG?

It is a well-known fact that the world’s four most influential tech companies are currently Google, Facebook, Amazon and Apple. In this article, you’ll find out why everyone wants to work at these companies and what makes them stand out from the crowd.

Reasons Why Everyone Wants To Work at FAANG

1. They are growing quickly

A few years ago, I would have said FAANGs were too small to be interesting, but today I think they’re the future of business. In the past few years, they’ve grown from tiny startups to global corporations with gross profits exceeding $100 billion each year.

2. They all have incredible brand recognition

If you want to be known as one of the top-performing tech companies in the world, this is where to start your career. You can land amazing engineering jobs at Facebook or YouTube, or work on a team developing a new product at Amazon.

3. They’re innovative

The latest products and services will be developed not in Silicon Valley but right here in Seattle, New York City and other hubs where they’ve made strong connections with startups and venture capitalists.

4. They offer high salaries

Money is a big incentive when it comes to a FAANG job. Each company offers top-notch salaries and generous benefits packages. You won’t leave these companies without having earned enough to live comfortably. Even if you’re just starting out, you’ll earn plenty of money working at one of these companies; it’s much more than you’d make at a typical startup. When you join one of these companies, your future is bright and you’ll get rewarded for your hard work along the way.

5. Their culture is different from that of mid-sized

FAANGs are not afraid to poke fun at themselves or their competitors. They’re often referred to as “hipsters,” referring to their tendency to operate outside the mainstream. But it’s more than just a sense of humour. Like other hipsters, FAANGs tend to be innovative and do things differently from other companies.

It’s clear there are many reasons why everyone — at least, those in the tech industry — seems to want to work for one of the big five: Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, or Google. The important thing is to find a company that feels like the right fit, even if it’s not one of the top five. Choosing a less popular option doesn’t take anything away from your resume or hurt your prospects of being snatched up by a major tech company down the line. You just have to be willing to do some searching.
