Stephen Troese Jr. Discusses Movie Awards

Stephen Troese Jr.

Did you happen to watch the Golden Globes last night like Stephen Troese Jr. Putting the socio-political takes aside, Stephen Troese Jr. wanted to take a second and talk about the movies themselves. Although he hasn’t seen all of the movies that were nominated yet, he has seen enough of them and knows what people were expecting to win. There were plenty of upsets and interesting things that happened that could affect who and what gets nominated for Best Picture. Stephen Troese Jr. offers the following thoughts.

Sam Rockwell Scores the Upset for Best Supporting Actor: Everyone loves Sam Rockwell (Way, Way, Way Back anyone?) However, he was going up against Willem Dafoe and a stacked category. Rockwell winning means he will probably get an Oscar nomination as well.

No Love for The Post: When you have Spielberg, Hanks, and Streep connected to the same project, it’s not unreasonable to think that it’s going to do very well come awards time. This did not happen and the movie was shut out in the major categories. We will have to see if this trend continues next month.

Will Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Continue to Win: The Hollywood Foreign Press really loved this movie, but will this momentum stick? There were other contenders that are sure to make a bigger splash come the Oscars. However, it was good to see Frances McDormand win as she always brings her best to the table.
