“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go with others.”

– African Proverb

We’ve all heard it… in order to go on a journey of a thousand miles, starts with the first step. You can reach your destination on your own, but every journey is better shared. Harness the wisdom, experience and knowledge of those who’ve gone before on your journey so you can forge the best path.

It is Human Nature to help others. In the workplace this is no different, we are all in this together so its important that we help each other out. Afterall, a journey or experience shared with others, enriches our own lives in more ways than we imagine. We become stronger, wiser and more more resilient, we grow a bit more as people. We learn Patience, tolerance, teamwork, problem solving, negotiation and a myriad of other important, transferable skills as a part of a group and from learning from others. Be Open to ideas, don’t be afraid to fail, if you stumble (and you will, we all will) get back up.

Harness the power of the People you admire. People you seem to share interests with. People whose values are your values. In new enterprises, and in your job one has the power of one. Two have the power of four. And four have the power of 16.

No team has ever won the league as an individual – No matter how good they are. It takes teamwork, trust and shared experiences to achieve success.

Remember – We are better together! – Stephen D. Walsh (c) 2016
