Good article, Ankur. While it’s easy to wholeheartedly agree with your premise regarding the problem, I need to point out two things, one relating to the symptoms, the other the remedy.
- The target market for the ridiculous end of the extreme is the group that ironically is most impacted: the always-on millennials. Their own lifestyle, increasingly divorced from real-world interaction, is creating viable markets for services supporting the rift.
- Most of the issues you describe are symptoms of capitalism in need of a reboot, and the extent to which this least worst economic system has been gamed by politicians to support the 1%, increasing the economic divide. Kairos sounds well-intended, but it would achieve its goals more effectively if it focused directly on political and structural economic reform.
