Silicon Valley Is Under Attack. Here’s Why We Deserve It.
Ankur Jain

Good article, Ankur. While it’s easy to wholeheartedly agree with your premise regarding the problem, I need to point out two things, one relating to the symptoms, the other the remedy.

  1. The target market for the ridiculous end of the extreme is the group that ironically is most impacted: the always-on millennials. Their own lifestyle, increasingly divorced from real-world interaction, is creating viable markets for services supporting the rift.
  2. Most of the issues you describe are symptoms of capitalism in need of a reboot, and the extent to which this least worst economic system has been gamed by politicians to support the 1%, increasing the economic divide. Kairos sounds well-intended, but it would achieve its goals more effectively if it focused directly on political and structural economic reform.
