Ex-communicate Me From the Church of Social Justice

(Inspired by a headline I read this morning on radical social justice ideology, and an old poem about the death of a friend, by Jovi Radtke.)

MIlwaukee Secure Detention Facility- a supermax designed to hold less than 300 prisoners, that now holds over 900, some simply awaiting trial for up to 12 months.

When someone you love is sent away

At the hands of another fascist cop

You will want to be ex communicated from the church of social justice

You now know that the war on drugs is blasphemy

A city of peace will never exist and

Now neither does he

Because

When someone you love is sent away

At the hands of another fascist cop

This pause is an

E T E R N I T Y

Lasting longer than you can hold your breath

I know

Because I’ve tried

But silently crying doesn’t bring him back

and loudly praying never will

I’m scarred from living in the memories that never came to be

Because fighting the system became more important than fighting

For his

L I F E

and in the end i just want one more minute to tell him how I feel

I miss him. I wanna tell him we’re okay

I wanna tell him that we’re not

I wanna tell him that survival should not be dependent on what you believe in

Or where you come from

But it is

It is

So ex communicate me from the church of social justice

Exile me from this city of healing

I believe in justice

I believe in peace

But I never truly believed in their God

Anyways
