Hey Bec, thanks for a really helpful post — I’m sure I’ll be sharing it a lot. In the vein of the last two bullet points, I’d comment that another unnecessary burden asked of panelists is demanding information like a bio too far in advance. It’s also really nice when organisers draft a bio for you (which also helps you understand why they approached you in the first place).
Also another point that you hinted at: it’s not just women that prefer women-friendly events. The first thing I do when evaluating whether to attend any event is look at the lineup. An all-male lineup tells me a lot about the kind of outdated ideas and culture that are likely to be present, including “beer and pizzas”, nasty tech swag etc.
