The world has witnessed many scams in the decade, such as Forex Scams, Binary options scams, Dating scams, and so on. Among the shipping container scams was the most notorious one resulting in people losing their fortune. Pacific Tycoon was one of the major players in the shipping container scams.

What is the Pacific Tycoon Scam?

Pacific Tycoon claimed to be a container leasing company where investors could buy a container for about USD 4000 and lease them to get a high return on investment, up to 12% to 30% a year. The container was covered under warranty, and investors could sell them after a specific period.

Over the top, it looks like a Ponzi Scheme, where people get high returns with low risk. They also promised guaranteed ROI, which seems too good to be true. They have claimed to be based in Hong Kong, China. However, many people reported that they make payments to shady jurisdictions other than Hong Kong.

All the mentioned points raise many red flags, indicating that this company is undoubtedly fraudulent.

How Pacific Tycoon Scam was carried out:

Pacific Tycoon insisted their investor lease a container taking a significant amount from them. They used to return 20% to 30% of the investment back to the investors to gain their trust and convince them to invest even more money. They accepted payments in multiple jurisdictions under different shell companies to launder the investments.

After a while, investors stopped getting the returns.

When investors inquired about their returns and containers, Pacific Tycoon lied to investors that “The container are stuck in Somalia and are not shipping anymore,” “Your containers are stuck in a war zone,” or “There are no buyers to your container to provide you returns.”

In the persistent investigation, we found that NO CONTAINERS EXISTED. It was a planned scam all along.

That is how the Pacific Tycoon scam was carried out.
