Summer Learning & Looking Forward
Jul 10, 2017 · 1 min read

It is July and the Dog Days of Summer are in full swing. The building is quiet (except for the pattering/pounding of feet now with summer school being hosted in our building). Teachers are off rejuvenating and recharging. Each summer, we hope that our students do not totally disconnect from reading and learning— are we professionals practicing what we preach? I always try to balance my suspense/horror novels with my professional reading. This reading always helps me relax, rejuvenate my thinking, and look forward to a brand new school year. Here’s what I have cooking this summer (so far):
- Any Lee Child, Stephen King, or John Sandford that I’ve missed over the last couple years (or I’ve even re-read a couple Stephen King novels I read years ago where I’ve snipped my dendrites and totally forgotten the outcome)
- Just finished “The Innovators Mindset” by George Couros. Great read! Chipping away at “High Reliability Schools” by Robert Marzano and will be starting “Learning Transformed” by Eric Sheninger. I have many more in my pile.
Now I need to keep blogging and Tweeting to connect with my colleagues and staff about my learning!
