“Master your time and master your life.”

Alan Lakein

Good morning peeps, meditation done.

Quote for the Day:

“Master your time and master your life.”

Alan Lakein

Today’s quote is by Alan Lakein a well-known author on personal time management, including How to Get Control of Your Time and Your Life, which has sold over 3 million copies. Former U.S. President Bill Clinton started his autobiography, My Life, with a reference to the book:

“When I was a young man just out of law school and eager to get on with my life, on a whim I briefly put aside my reading preference for fiction and history and bought one of those how-to books: How to Get Control of Your Time and Your Life, by Alan Lakein.

The book’s main point was the necessity of listing short, medium, and long-term life goals, then categorizing them in order of their importance, with the A group being the most important, the B group next, and the C the last, then listing under each goal specific activities designed to achieve them.

I still have that paperback book, now almost thirty years old. And I’m sure I have that old list somewhere buried in my papers, though I can’t find it. However, I do remember the A list. I wanted to be a good man, have a good marriage and children, have good friends, make a successful political life, and write a great book.”

Do you find you never have enough time to fit everything into your day?

Everyone at work and at home is always demanding your time. They need it immediately to make rapidly approaching, all encompassing, very important deadlines. You have to go and see your daughter perform in her dance school’s latest show at the local theatre, your son wants you to take him to football and your partner is reminding you not to forget that you are going to the Miller’s for dinner a week on Friday. It is weeks since you managed to go to the gym and you have noticed your clothes are a little bit tight and to your horror, when you look down there is a bulge hanging over your belt, not to mention the pain from a sore back, stiff neck and dodgy knee!

How did this happen? Where has my life gone? What have I become? Hang on a minute, press the pause button…Taxi, get me out of here! I need time, to think, to relax, to do something.

Sound familiar? Sound like someone you know or a scenario you can relate to?

There is an old saying “If you want something done ask a busy person.”
