“Anyone who practices can obtain success in yoga but not one who is lazy. Constant practice alone is the secret of success”

Good morning peeps, meditation done.
 Quote for the day:

“Anyone who practices can obtain success in yoga but not one who is lazy. Constant practice alone is the secret of success”

Kino MacGregor is one of the world’s most famous yogi’s with just shy of a million followers on Instagram and over 30 million views on her inspirational YouTube channel KinoYoga

Kino is an international yoga teacher, author of three books, producer of six Ashtanga Yoga DVDs, writer, vlogger, world traveller, co-founder of Miami Life Centre and founder of Miami Yoga Magazine.

I have been fortunate to study with her twice in Edinburgh on weekend courses and this summer I plan to go and study with her and her husband Tim Feldmann for a month at their centre in Miami.

Without any background in movement training Kino MacGregor tried her first yoga class when she was nineteen.

Three years later, she joined Govinda Kai’s Mysore-style classes in New York City and became a dedicated Ashtanga yoga practitioner.

After seven months of traditional Ashtanga practice Kino travelled to Mysore, India to meet her true teacher, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois “Guruji”.

Upon her return she began real self-practice by practicing alone and devoting herself entirely to the study and teaching of Ashtanga yoga.

After seven years of consistent trips to Mysore, at the age of 29, she received from Guruji the Certification to teach Ashtanga yoga.

With more than 15 years of experience in Ashtanga Yoga, she is one of a select group of people to receive the Certification to teach Ashtanga Yoga by its founder Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India and practice through the Fourth Series of Ashtanga Yoga.

I have been studying yoga for 10 years and teaching for 8 of them, but I only began studying Ashtanga consistently when I moved to Aberdeen in 2012 and started taking class with Mo Still at her lovely studio at her beautiful home in the Aberdeenshire countryside with my friend Ben Iravani.

Mo introduced me to Mysore self practice which I continued on a daily basis with under the guidance of Sarah Durney Hatcher at 4:30am in the morning before my first 7am personal training session of the day for a year up until I left Aberdeen in 2014.

I have continued with a daily Mysore practice ever since and I cannot wait to take my own practice further with Kino in the summer.

Have a wonderful Wednesday peeps, I am just about to get on my mat.
