“Winning is not everything, but wanting to win is.”

Vince Lombardi

Good morning peeps, meditation done.
 Quote for the day:

“Winning is not everything, but wanting to win is.”

Vince Lombardi

Another great quote from Vince Lombardi who is considered one of the best and most successful coaches in NFL history.

He is best known as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers during the 1960s, where he led the team to three straight and five total National Football League championships in seven years, in addition to winning the first two Super Bowls following the 1966 and 1967 NFL seasons.

The NFL’s Super Bowl trophy is named in his honour and he was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971, the year after his death.

In his brilliant book ‘Run to Daylight!’ Lombardi writes his own diary of a week at the helm of that magnificent club. Together with legendary sports-journalist, W.C. Heinz, Lombardi takes us from the first review of game films on Monday right through the final gun on Sunday afternoon. We see the planning, the plotting, the practice and the pain as forty-plus men come together to form that precision unit that makes for winning football. Lombardi gives us his views on life, the game, coaching, success, family, and the famed “Lombardi Sweep.”

The book shows how Lombardi teaches his players and coaches to have a winning mentality, this is one of the things Sir Alex Fergusson the most successful manager in football history got from studying the methods of Vince Lombardi.

If it is good enough for Sir Alex it’s good enough for me and I try and read ‘Run to Daylight!’ once a year, I love books by winning coaches like Sir Alex, Jose Mourinho and Sir Clive Woodward.

Their attention to detail in preparation and work ethic is unbelievable and I try to take this into everything I do, I want to be the best of the best in anything I do, which is why I try and get up earlier than everyone else to give myself more time in a day to work harder than anyone else everyday.

This is how you reach your full potential in life, this is the difference between winning and losing.

Are you fulfilling your full potential, are you preparing with the mentality of a winner?
